2024 : MORE effort
The Mob Wife aesthetic has surged in popularity since the beginning of January. This trend uses a diverse range of styles, from fur coats and eccentric clothing to leopard print and French tip nails.
In contrast, the Clean Girl aesthetic dominated 2023, with a sleek appearance using slick back buns, clean-cut oversized outfits in neutral colors, bows, minimal makeup, and an emphasis on skincare regimens. Personally, I had a love-hate relationship with this trend. While I admired the idea of embracing minimalism, I sometimes felt pressured to invest in expensive skincare to achieve the desired clean and effortless look.
These two trends specifically have many overlapping pieces, and they crossover with layering. Pieces that are staples in one trend are always found in the upcoming trend. Pieces like a staple sunglass, high boots, a classic coat (aka: faux fur), and even ballet flats can be used year-round.
From this aesthetic, femininity, like I’ve written about before, is making its comeback. In today's society, the idea of femininity can easily be overlooked. The year brought back bows, pink tones, and a love for girly dressing. Influential brands like Djerf Avenue played a crucial role in transforming the vibe from unlikable to relaxed and girly.
The release of the Barbie movie in 2023 even more so contributed to the revival of soft femininity, giving that comfort to young women striving to reconnect with that aspect of themselves! With many more women utilizing and loving the color pink again.
As we step into 2024, we witness the coexistence of the Clean Girl, Mob Wife, and Funky Star Girl aesthetics.
This combination incorporates trends like embracing natural hair, playful makeup, cool accessories, faux fur, statement sunglasses, bold boots, leather, cheetah print, ruffles, layering, oversized clothing, and MORE jewelry. There's a million more to be named...
A notable prediction for this year is the elevation of the faux fur jacket to staple status. It pairs effortlessly with a hoodie, sweatpants, and your favorite sneakers.
I hope 2024 will be a mix of all trends, with people trying out different vibes, mixing fun streetwear and classic pieces into everyday wear.
Personally, I have been wearing cowboy boots since 2023. And think it will become a #1 staple in everyone’s wardrobe. It definitely is in mine!
What’s the Catch?
When you are going to buy your first fur jacket or pair of cowboy boots :)
