More is More
In my most recent job application, I spilled my thoughts on more is more. And no, I don’t mean throwing on every piece of clothing you own, but it’s more about the art of layering, stacking, and sprinkling in personality, whether it’s jewelry, sweaters, bold makeup, or just trying something new.
For me, fashion is more than “just clothes.” It’s like taking the thoughts in my head and making them real. It’s my way of showing the world who I am and what I like without having to talk. And let’s be real, the whole “less is more” thing is not always the case. Sometimes more is what makes something amazing…more color and more pieces that make you feel like you.
For example, a few things that make me feel like me are denim and cowboy boots. Whenever I have an all-denim outfit on with a pair of cowboy boots or any boots for that matter, I feel like me. I could not have my hair done, or my makeup done, or any jewelry, and still feel better than when it’s all done.
Lately, I’ve been leaning into this mindset. Instead of saving my favorite outfits “for later” (a habit we’re all guilty of), I’ve been wearing them now. Why not? Life’s too short for meh outfits and boring routines. I’ve been swapping sweats for my fun boots, pulling out sweaters I forgot I owned, and putting on the expensive perfume just because it’s Wednesday.
Here’s the thing: when you put more into how you show up, what you wear, how you style your hair, even the tiny details like a cool pair of earrings, it’s not just about looking good. It’s about feeling great. And that energy carries over into everything else you do!
Overall, what I’m trying to say is, stop saving the “good stuff.” Wear the sweater you love, even if you’re just going to class or grabbing coffee. Try the funky eyeliner trend you’ve been eyeing on TikTok. Dust off those boots you thought were too fancy for a regular day.
And honestly, taking an extra five minutes to play around with your look, whether that’s layering necklaces or finally curling your hair, can make your whole day feel different. Suddenly, a regular Tuesday feels like you are actually on top of the world.
So yeah, more is the trend. More fun, more boldness, more confidence.
What's the Catch?
Trying to figure out the things that make you YOU. And NOT getting caught up in the newest trend.
