Summer Swim

With summer around the corner, we're swapping our oversized hoodies and sweats for fun bikinis. Maybe it's just me, but summer stresses me out. As a girl who loves fashion, I've come to realize that my favorite season is layer season. Why? Because I have the freedom to wear whatever I want, whether it's boots, leggings, or make my whole outfit about my staple coat.

Throughout the summer months, I've always felt restricted by what I can wear. When it's too hot, you want to wear short lengths, and the only options seem to be a short skirt, shorts, a tank top, or a short-sleeved shirt. Those bore me after a while.

The moral of the story? I love big coats and big statement pieces. Although this piece is not about layering (my favorite topic), it raises the question: How can I embrace a fun look while still feeling cool, especially throughout summer?

What's the catch? When it comes to swimsuits, why do we only stick to the same few styles…the low-rise, tiny-top look? It's easy to feel like you have to conform to a certain look, especially with swimwear, but step out of that comfort zone! Below are a few different styles of bathing suits you might want to try out this summer. I know I will!

Skirts & Shorts

This is probably my favorite style of swimsuits. Skirts and shorts used to be my least favorite things to wear to the beach, but as I got older, I started to love them. They are flirty, fun, sophisticated, and can even give you that retro/vintage look that screams old money.

Short sleeves  & Long Sleeves

Shirts as swimwear are just adorable. A cute little crop top adds a touch of daintiness to your swimwear. No slips, durable, and modest, especially for family outings.

Cutouts

Cutouts just mean you're cool. If you can pull off a cutout swimsuit with some layered jewelry, you're automatically cool. Adding some edge to your beach look, these designs give a balance between a bikini and a one-piece, providing coverage with a hint of allure.

Frills and Ruches

Frills are so feminine and chic. They add a playful touch to your swimwear and can enhance your silhouette by adding volume to your hips, creating a balanced and flattering look. Frills bring a flirty and fun vibe, perfect for any swimwear style.

Embellished Swimwear

Bikinis with built-in jewelry are the epitome of non-functional but aesthetic. They are great for pics and pool parties, but not so much for swimming or tanning. This style remains one of my favorites because you can accessorize along with the jewelry already on the swimwear.

BAHIMI

Tankinis

You might cringe when you hear the word tankinis, thinking of the 2010s, but I promise, when done right, they add coverage, are great for hours in the ocean, and are elegant overall.
